Linus Dean, founder of the eponymous Linus Dean Designer Rugs, is an adventurer at
heart with a free spirit and a uniquely non-conformist aesthetic. Life began in small-town Taupo,
New Zealand for Dean where he experienced a childhood largely defined by an old-fashioned
freedom and innocence. When his family relocated to Sydney, Australia at aged 15, he set about
exploring his adopted city with gusto, further distilling his quest for creativity and adventure.
Dean, an award-winning designer of twenty years standing and former alumni of the
respected Enmore Design Centre, felt inspired to launch his own modern rug business in 2011,
offering a fresh and original flooring alternative to the discerning, design-savvy consumer.
Dean’s designer rugs are hand-woven by traditional Nepalese craftspeople using the finest
Himalayan wool and silk. The fibres are dyed naturally using environmentally friendly indigo,
saffron, mulberry, walnut and camellia tea, infusing the rugs with an incomparable richness of colour.
Renowned for his passion for vintage typography, Dean’s rug compositions often reference the
lettering and design of a bygone era, while his collaborations with contemporary street artists such
as Jeroen Erosie, Ekta and Australian Lucas Grogan, lend his creations an avantgarde, experimental edge. Each handcrafted designer rug is guaranteed to be distinctively one of a kind.
Linus Dean Designer Rugs offer themselves as a desirable and durable interior feature that completes
the most prestigious of spaces. Marrying the immaculate craftsmanship of yesteryear with the latest contemporary design forms an exquisite artistic synergy, resulting in this dramatic but playful
collection of bold flooring masterpieces.
